When Saving Money Isn’t Worth the Effort

I am not a big fan of driving a couple of blocks to save time, or because it’s hot or cold. I have been known to ride my bike the one mile to work when I don’t have kids to drop off at daycare. I find it invigorating and rewarding to know that while saving a little bit of gas and miles on the van I’m also giving my body some much needed exercise.

So this morning I ask DS “Do you want to go to the playground to slide?” He answers, “no it’s too hot”. When did my 2 and a half year old grow up enough to not want to go play because of the heat? Now what are we going to do for the next hour without tearing the house up, but give him enough exercise to make nap easier? I overrule his “no” and we get ready to go to the park. It happens to be very close to our townhouse. I load up DD in the stroller and DS on his trike. 10:08 we’re out the door. 10:25 we get to the park (you can see where this post is leading) We spend about 20 minutes to play before we’re both very hot and out of water. (why did I bother with a shower this morning???) DS has spent most of his time playing with the rocks and trying to get on swings that are too big for him. At 10:50 we leave and get back at 11:05. I ended up pushing the stroller and pulling his trike most of the way home. Why did I even bother? (we have got to get a double stroller!) And I really want more of these things called children????…..
