Going to Walt Disney World has always been one of our family’s guilty pleasures that we save and plan for in order to make it happen. I’ve been helping my friends plan Disney trips for nearly my entire adult life. A couple of years ago an opportunity to become a travel agent came along and I jumped. I’ve been specializing in Walt Disney World Trips since then (and booking other things like Universal as well). I spent almost a month at {Read More}

Disney World is located in a great place weather wise, but for the vast majority of the U.S. it’s not a very convenient place to travel to. After you’ve picked the best week to take your Disney World vacation, the next step is to decide if you should fly or drive. There are several factors to consider when it comes to flying or driving. How long would it take to drive to Orlando? How long would it take to fly {Read More}

  Kabongo is a new website with games to help your 4-7 yr old learn to read.  This is normally $10 to use, but they are currently running a special where it is free to join.  The site features 9 different challenging and auto-leveling games that advance at your child’s pace. I’m registering so that my 3 and a half year old can play.  He loves Starfall, so I think he’ll really like this too.

10 – 12 Yr Old’s Birthday Party Idea

Let me first say that I am not a big fan of screen time.  I do believe in a little thing called moderation though.  That being said- I was intrigued by a deal that came across my e-mail this morning: A mobile video game truck that can be rented for birthday parties and events. Sound expensive, but compared to prices I’ve heard people throw out for recent parties for 1-3 yr old kids it’s actually quite reasonable for most people.  {Read More}

Many of you are experiencing winter weather (21+ inches of snow back home!) so I thought I would remind you of a great resource for your younger kids. Starfall.com has many excellent stories for children ages 2-8. Turkey just turned 3 and has been using the computer to “do the gingerbread man” story since last summer. He also loves the turkey, snowman and pumpkin stories.  Here is the snowman that he decorated this afternoon. These stories teach shapes, colors, body {Read More}

You might need an extra dose for today’s money making tip.  If you’re taking a trip to a popular tourist area, consider attending some timeshare presentations for pay.  Call around to resorts, especially new ones in the area that you’ll be visiting, and see what gifts they are offering if you attend a presentation.  BTW, most places have a kids room where you can drop your kids off to play while you’re there.  Resorts will pay you anywhere from $25- {Read More}

Free Zoo Admission October 2nd and 3rd

If you live in the Tyler area, October 2nd and 3rd are the annual phone book recycle days at the Caldwell Zoo.  Bring an outdated phone book in to recycle and receive free admission for that day.  You’ll need one phone book per guest.  This would make a great outing for any age.  The current hours are 9-4; 7 days a week.

We met Jack Hanna!

  Our family loves to visit the zoo.  When we moved to Tyler this year we decided to get a family pass so that we could pop in for an hour or so whenever we wanted to.  Turkey can’t seem to get enough of East Africa, the tigers, and strangely enough- the flamingos.  Well, one of the great perks to having the family zoo pass is that we got to attend a presentation by Jack Hanna himself!  I requested our {Read More}
