Going to Walt Disney World has always been one of our family’s guilty pleasures that we save and plan for in order to make it happen. I’ve been helping my friends plan Disney trips for nearly my entire adult life. A couple of years ago an opportunity to become a travel agent came along and I jumped. I’ve been specializing in Walt Disney World Trips since then (and booking other things like Universal as well). I spent almost a month at {Read More}

I am getting a lot of e-mails and requests for scenarios.  Please be aware that due to unforeseen circumstances I am not available this week.  I will respond to your questions as soon as I possibly can, but it is all I can do at this moment to stay on top of this week’s matchups to be a help to the most readers.  I will try to get to your questions this weekend, but will be unable to write any {Read More}

Yes, You Can Paint Over Wallpaper

We (meaning Hubby) gave this a try today.  Little One’s room at our new house had been painted a dark brown over wallpaper.  Really it was a very nice job and it was hard to detect the wallpaper.  We of course wanted a much lighter color for her walls.  Turns out if you use water based paint the walls will bubble horribly. Lesson learned: if you don’t use an oil based paint you can save some time and money by {Read More}

Why I Haven’t Posted This Past Week

It’s been a busy one for sure.  I hope everyone has been able to score some great deals during my absence at A Thrifty Penny.  Here’s a peek into our lives recently: Hosted our parents at our apartment for a week–  It’s great to have them, but after a week it’s good to be back to just us 4 again for a while.  Little One was dedicated at church–  8th months old already and she’s such a sweetheart!  Had Turkey’s {Read More}

Eye Surgery for Baby

I took Little One back to the eye doctor this morning.  Her pressures are still perfectly normal and she continues to show no other signs of glaucoma except for her excessive tearing.  The tearing is from two unrelated causes.   She has double blocked tear ducts as well as something called entropion.  Entropion is where her eyelids flip inward.  Basically her bottom eyelashes rest on her eyes so they aren’t protecting her eyes from all the floating particles in the {Read More}

Goodbye DH, DS and DD

I feel very impersonal using the abbreviations DH, DS and DD, but feel it is important to maintain some privacy for my family, especially since I do post pictures of the kiddos.  So from here on out I’m going to use Hubby, Turkey and Little Bit or Little One when referring to my family.  If I can come up with something more creative for Hubby that he won’t be offended by I’ll switch to that.  Hopefully that will make this {Read More}

Slow and Steady Wins the Race

I wish everyone could have been driving down New Copeland Rd. the other night as we were on our way out to eat (treat from my Mom who is visiting). DH hits the brakes and says “Oh man, we have to turn around” . I’m racking my brain trying to think what I’ve forgotten (it’s usually me that goes back into the house a couple of times before we can finally leave). The conversation continues…. “Wha’d we forget?” “Nothing, there’s {Read More}
