Oh No – Did He Really Just Do That??!!!

DS has been potty trained for several weeks now, but we left “his potty” in the kitchen for easy access. He takes care of everything himself, so I think nothing of it when he tells me “I’m going potty, Mama”. Evidently I was too caught in doing the dishes because he then he tells me “I poured my peepee out Mama”. I absentmindedly say “That’s great bud”, only to realize that not enough time passed between these two comments AND I didn’t hear the pitter patter of little feet running back from our bedroom. I turn to see him holding the empty potty cup. Mama attitude turns on immediately to ask “And just where did you pour it?” Well, he showed me….

By this time I’m trying so hard to not laugh as I get on to him for doing such a thing. I have a very difficult time not laughing at a child who is laughing back at me. He is going to be a class clown for sure! Fortunately he wasn’t laughing so much when he had to clean it all up.

Did I mention that at the time his potty bowl had not one but two deposits in it?

  1. We don’t use a potty chair, but I have a story that is about as gruesome. Oliver uses the regular toilet. He has been using it for ages. And I’m like you-he just does his thing, I don’t go with him. Well, all week, the bathroom has smelled like pee. I washed the rug a couple times and did a quick mop, but just couldn’t figure out why it smelled in there. I figured it out last night when I went in to do my serious weekly cleaning. He had peed in the trash can!!! I don’t know what ever possessed him to do something like that. I let him know that if that ever happened again we were going to drag out the potty chair and he would no longer be able to stand and use the potty like daddy. Sigh. That’s what we get with little boys, I guess.

  2. oh my. maybe it was quicker to get to than stepping up to the toilet? DS always has to move a stool if he wants to stand up to go.
