3/18. The policy has been revised again and clearly states no $$ off entire purchase catalinas. So I was on a coupon high after my trip to Walmart where I
perservered in using my RRs as per the new coupon policy. After a while
I got to thinking about it and came up with 3 reasons why we may
want to refrain from using our RRs (besides just plain hating Walmart
and/or the thought of using coupons at Walmart).1. Last night it occured to
me that there is a long list of prohibited items on the back of the
RR. Included on that list are prescriptions and dairy products. Dairy
products. Hmmm. I bought a package of yogurt yesterday at
Walmart. I did still pay $3.48 on a GC which more than covered the
yogurt, but it didn’t even occur to me not to buy dairy with a RR, as I
don’t typically buy dairy at Walgreens. I would hate to be trying to buy just milk and yogurt with a RR and the cashier point out that restriction. 2. Also keep
in mind the upcoming sales at Walgreens. I spent a $5 and $3 RR at Walmart,
leaving a $5 and $2 RR to shop at Walgreens with. This is normally enough, however
tonight I went to buy diapers from this week and next week’s ads. My
transactions looked like this:
Transaction 12 Pampers @ 20 and 2 Ajax @ 1subtotal: 21used (2) $2.50/1 pampersused Wags Pampers Q (took off 4)used in ad Q for Ajax (took off .33)used $2 RR and $5 RRnew total: $4.67, got back $3 RR for Pampers
Transaction 22 Wags Diapers @ 8.99used Wags Q (took off 4)used $3 RRnew total $2.99, no RRs left to spend next week
Had I thought about it before going to Walmart, I would have just spent a $3 RR to try it out. Then my transactions would have looked like this:
-
Transaction 12 Pampers @ 20 and 2 Ajax @ 1
subtotal: 21
used (2) $2.50/1 pampers
used Wags Pampers Q (took off 4)
used in ad Q for Ajax (took off .33)
used both $5 RRs
new total: $1.67, got back $3 RR for PampersTransaction 2
2 Wags Diapers @ 8.99
used Wags Q (took off 4)
used $3 RR from Pampers and used $2 RR
-
new total $0.99, and no RRs to use next week
3. If we start spending a lot of RRs at Walmart, then Walgreens is losing our business and will probably eventually pull the RR program. It would take a lot of lost business, but we all know that competition is a good thing. Walmart’s trend seems to be
A- come to town with low pricesB-keep prices low until other stores start to closeC-raise prices after other stores close because Walmart then has the customer base and slightly lower prices.
I’d prefer to keep supporting Walgreens by rolling my RRs when at all possible. Not telling you what to do folks, just throwing out some things to ponder over.
