Just So You Know I am Human Too!

Ok, I want you guys to know that I am human, meaning I make mistakes too.  When I write about our life I say “I try to” or “I like to”.  I hope you realize this means things don’t always happen the way I try to or like to do them.  I may write these big scenarios (which from time to time do have mistakes you’ll notice) but it doesn’t mean that I go and buy all those items just like I’ve written it.  I guarantee you I don’t.  I write the scenarios because I enjoy seeing the possibilities and I do get a coupon high when I see how low I can get the OOP!

Let’s just clear the air about my drugstore shopping mayhem experiences.

Am I always able to find everything that I want to buy? no- around here if it’s going to be free you better be there at opening honey!

So, do I make mistakes at the store?  yes

Have I ever payed for a deal with the same RR, meaning a new one won’t produce?  yes

Have I ever not had enough fillers and not been able to use all the RRs I wanted (or had to run back for a filler)?  yes

Have I ever had more fillers than I needed?  yes

Do I miscalculate and owe more than I expected?  yes

Now, on to my shopping trips today yesterday and the mistakes I made.  Hopefully you’ve already seen my post about my shopping trips yesterday. Were you able to figure out my mistakes?

I stopped by Walgreens before church yesterday morning and had 2 transactions.  Then I went to another Walgreens last night and had 2 transactions and walked across the street to CVS and had 1 transaction.

1st transaction at Walgreens– no mistakes

2nd transaction at Walgreens– I took 6 fillers with me intending to use the 2 RRs from transaction 1 to pay in addition to 4 RRs I already had.  Before she finished ringing me up I realized that I was buying the same two deals from T1 again, so I set aside 2 fillers.  Then after everything was finished and paid I realized I hadn’t used the in ad Q for my fillers (had I written up my own scenario before I went, I would have known my total was too high, but of course I didn’t do that) The manager refunded the difference and I went on my way to church.  It was then that it dawned on me.  I bought 9 items, used 4 manu Qs and 4 RRs, so I bought one filler too many.  Given the fact that I did all this with both kids in tow (a no-no when rolling at Walgreens) I’ll take the $.17 penalty and call it good :-)

That afternoon I was looking at the matchups and noticed that it said the Huggies Wipes Q was from Sunday’s inserts.  I didn’t buy a paper.  A search through the coupon database didn’t bring up any other Qs for it.  So I go flipping through my inserts and sure enough, next to the Q I had clipped this week and put in my Wags pouch, were two diaper Qs that expired on April 16th. Saturday.  So, now I have to go back to the store and pay them $1.08 (in TX we are taxed on the after Q total) because it doesn’t sit well with me that I used an expired Q.

Last night my husband was home so I was able to shop childless.  Of course the Reach was gone at the 2nd Wags, as expected.  I rounded up all my purchases and went to the register.  As I flip through my Wags pouch pulling Qs I see my last $.75/2 Dove bars which reminded me I hadn’t picked them up.  So my 2nd transaction tonight consisted of only 2 Dove bars with a whopping $.03 total.  So silly to even print the receipt over it!

Fortunately nothing went wrong at CVS on my part (at least that I can think of so far).  I was shopping at a store that is frequently out of items so I never write a scenario when I shop at that store.  They were out of 2 items that I’ll try to pick up at another store later in the week.  For now I’m all shopped out.  I wish I could have gotten the expired Qs thing fixed last night, but I know that manager had gone home by the time I figured it out and was able to go back, and I want to speak with him specifically so that he knows I didn’t intentionally use them and that I want to make it right.  There have been a lot of coupon issues at that store and I don’t want to be lumped into the category with obsessive couponers and those that have committed fraud.  Hopefully he’ll be on duty today.

So yes folks, I’m human.  I don’t always have perfectly laid out plans for myself and even when I do, things don’t always go as planned.  We call it rolling the RRs and ECBs and we have to roll with the punches we get.  Hope you guys have a great shopping week!
