If you’re brand new to couponing and wanting to get started without any coupons try this at CVS between now and Saturday (4/9). First, stop in CVS and get registered for an Extra Care Card. This card will give you all the in store sale prices and allow you to get the valuable ECBs for buying products that I’m talking about below. You’ll want to take all these items with you to the register and tell the cashier you have 3 transactions.
1st Transaction (or purchase)
buy 1 Opti-Free Multipurpose Solution @ $8.99
pay $8.99 plus any applicable tax, and get back an $8.99 ECB (coupon)
2nd Transaction
buy 2 select Crest products @ $3.49 each = $6.98
(ProHealth Rinse, Glide Floss and Pro Health Gum Protection toothpaste are included)
buy 1 GUM Flosser @ 2
subtotal: 8.98
use the $8.99 ECB you got from the 1st transaction (they’ll reduce it’s value to $8.98)
new total: $0.00 so you’ll pay only the applicable tax (I live in TX, where there will be no tax on a total of $0.00) and you’ll get back a $5 ECB for the Crest products and a $2 ECB for the GUM Flosser
3rd Transaction
buy 1 GUM Flosser @ 2
buy 1 Right Guard Deodorant @ 3.88
subtotal: 5.88
use the $5 ECB from Transaction 2
new total: $.88, plus pay any applicable tax, and you’ll get a $2 ECB for the GUM Flosser and a $3 ECB for the Right Guard.
You now have a $3 ECB and (2) $2 ECBs that you can use this week to buy other items at CVS like mik, cereals, sodas, diapers. They carry a surprising amount of items. Or, you could save them to buy several products next week that will also produce an ECB. (if you had those $7 in ECBs to start this week, you’d have only spent $2.87 cash plus tax for these $23 worth of items!)
Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions. I’ll do my best to answer!
Thanks so much for this info!! I’m kinda new to CVS shopping. Do you have to go away and return after every transaction, or can you get all your stuff, and just tell the cashier that you want them done in seperate transactions?
Hi Sanette, I usually will only do 2 transactions per store, per visit. And yes, I will let the cashier know that I’ve got two transactions. Sometimes I will let someone slip between my transactions too. I am fortunate to have 4 CVSs close by, so I can always do 2 trans. at one store, then drive to another and do 2 more. Once you’ve built up some ECBs you can also do larger transactions and that helps immensely.
