Not that anyone is even remotely surprised by this news (unless you live in a small town with few couponers), but it is certainly frustrating that Walgreens is announcing insufficient stock for next week’s RR deals before the ad has even become effective. Here is a report by Christie of WildforWags (thanks Amanda for alerting me) It’s upsetting to think of the hours I have spent writing scenarios to benefit all of you, and now those scenarios won’t even be valid on Sunday. I know many of you have already spent time writing your own personal scenarios too. Maybe some of you are lucky enough to have a store that orders stock for sales well in advance. Otherwise hopefully you can find some time to rework your shopping plans for Wags.
Update: I found about 10 boxes of Crackerfuls at my favorite store this morning at 8:02 (they open at 8), however all but one were in a customer’s cart! I simply smiled and waited, as this is the store in town that limits customers to 1 or 2 transactions, depending on the manager in duty. Sure enough, within about a minute the manager was restocking the crackerfuls and several illy coffee to boot! The manager confirmed that they wouldn’t be getting any more crackerfuls, and that the smart rinse would not be in stock either. I also found one lone Aquafresh kids. By the time I left the store, there were only 2 boxes of crackerfuls left on the shelf.
The Applied Nutrition Q beeped and they wouldn’t override it because it was producing a RR. I wasn’t in an arguing mood, so I left it. The coupon clearly states “applied nutrition supplements” so the calcium should qualify. Hopefully your manager will agree. I don’t plan on going to another Wags this week so I won’t be able to try and report back to you on that.
Am I the only one eagerly awaiting for the card system to reach all Walgreens stores? I’m quite tired of all this shelf clearing and massive ordering of late. I love CVS for standing by their ads and issuing rainchecks with ECBs!

Update from Marshall: NO crackerfuls (one woman bought them ALL – don’t get me started on the clear lack of coupon etiquette), NO MORE Applied Calcium and Q beeped here too, NO smartrinse, NO Aquafresh, and not all of the listed Listerines in the ad are ringing up the sale price.
No Crackerfuls at S broad/ Rieck either. The supplement Q also beeped but they manually put it in (w/out me having to ask). I did notice one lady putting several of each of the pain powder in her cart and she had multiples of everything in her cart. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many coupon binders in one store in my life :). Seems things are changing… It worries me…
Thanks for your reports ladies. It’s pretty much the same news from all across the country today. I’m sure the one store that ordered and got 500 boxes of crackerfuls has happy customers this morning ladies! I was pleased with my two. I wasn’t sure if I would buy 2 or not, but decided to keep the original one I found on the shelf (I think it had been left because it was already opened) since I didn’t think most people would want it anyway.
Jennifer I am thrilled for you that you got the $5 moneymaker! TACC was also told that they wouldn’t override the Q due to the RR. Certainly seems to contradict their coupon policy that the use of coupons will not interfere with a RR printing doesn’t it? Oh well, excited for you just the same.
i didn’t find any aquafresh kids at my stores today, but i went to target and they price matched it for me.
i didn’t realize they did that–YAY! now i just have to teach my 3 year old how to spit the toothpaste out, ha! stocks were LOW to none on most everything at walgreens, but i really think it’s WAGS not stocking properly, and not totally the couponers (though people who clear the shelves irritate me beyond belief)…i scoped out the stock (or lack thereof)on Saturday and it didn’t look good.
While I do understand the store policy to limit the number of items that people are allowed to make I have one gripe … My two daughters and I were in WG and they had a good deal on Always maxi’s. I knew I could only purchase a few so I gave each of my girls (who are both have the monthly fairy visit) their own money to make purchases and the manager told them no. How can they discriminate like this?
My understanding, at least at our store, is only 1 or 2 transactions per person per day (1 manager only allows 1, the rest allow 2) I don’t see how they legally could tell your girls that they couldn’t do their own transactions. I would recommend calling Walgreens corporate and asking what the corporate policy on discrimination is. Let em know what happened and ask how your daughters are to ever learn how to make a purchase if they aren’t allowed to try with supervision.
