My original purpose for this blog was to make a difference in the lives of my readers. I wanted to – and still want to – help teach ways to be frugal in all walks of life. There’s more to being frugal than just having a receipt that shows a large amount of savings. The Free Dictionary defines frugal as “Practicing or marked by economy, as in the expenditure of money or the use of material resources” Many sites can teach you how to stick a bandaid on your spending, but I want to be a site that teaches you how to fix the scrape under the bandaid– your usage.
Over the past several weeks I’ve noticed that I’m posting more and more coupon deals. I feel like this blog is becoming more of a deal blog than a frugal living blog. That’s not the direction I want this blog to go. Yet, I want to continue to post weekly matchups because I feel like those are important-we make good use of most of those items. What I question is whether or not YOU-my readers- want to see those coupon deals and occasional other deals that I’m finding. I may write the blog, but it is the readers that give it a purpose.
Please take a moment to vote in the poll on the side bar. Do you want to see more deals, less deals, or is the balance right now good? If you do want to see more deals I could do this 2 ways-
- I could create a new page that I would update with the new deals. This way the homepage wouldn’t have a deal focus to it, but they are easily accessible at the click of a button. You could also bookmark that page if you are most interested in the deals. I could highlight these on FB for my FB readers.
- I could put as many deals as I find for that day into one daily deals post. I like the idea that they can be seen on the homepage, but if they are good deals they really need their own post, or at least posts by category.
I’m just not sure what direction to take or if you want to see those deals at all. I need your input to keep this blog what YOU want it to be.
I love that you post the local deals and matchups because I don’t know of another source for these – i.e. Super 1, but I would also like to see more frugal living posts. As you stated, saving money with Q’s is only one part of the equation. Thanks for all that you do!
I love your blog just the way it is, its one of my favorite. Thanks for all that you do!
you are doing a great job at keeping us informed and challenging us to be more frugal. i love the deals you put on here too…taking advantage of those deals helps us with our frugal living.
