This is one of my favorite desserts to fix for a get together. It’s super easy, very yummy, and looks like I spent a lot more time and effort than I did! I tweaked this recipe from a Hershey’s cookbook I checked out from the library about 10 years ago.
Ingredients:
1 cup and 2 TBS flour, sifted
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup softened butter
1/2 brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg
1 and 1/4 cups chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Sift flour, salt and baking soda together in a small bowl.
Blend butter, brown sugar and vanilla.
Beat egg into butter/sugar mixture.
Add flour to the mixture and mix well.
Spread into 9 x 13 greased pan.
Sprinkle chocolate chips over top of the batter.
Put in oven for 90 seconds.
Run knife through well to marbalize. It’s this pattern that makes them seem so fancy.
Bake for 10-12 minutes more.
Makes 2 dozen squares. (or 6 of my size squares!)
Sounds yummy Ms. Cricket. I will have to give this one a try.
