After I posted earlier today about making costumes and reminding you to check at your local thrift stores, I decided to go see what my Goodwill store had available this year. I really hadn’t thought about what I wanted the kids to dress up as this year, so I asked little Turkey. He promptly replied “I want to be a butterfly”. Um yeah, I don’t think that would go over very well with his daddy. So we began to sort through the 4 aisles of costumes.
After 3 aisles all I had was a pumpkin that he was sort of excited about, and was beginning to get discouraged, when I found an Elmo that was just the right size! He was thrilled and so was I. Then I found a fabulous Tigger costume that he loved even more. It’s got the cutest little springy tail, and when we got home and put it on for pictures he found that it also talks when you press on the mittens. Did I mention what a steal this was at $4.99?!?
It didn’t take long to find someting cute for Little One. At $3.99 it wasn’t a steal, but not bad either.
As we were browsing through the rest of the store I also decided to buy a kitchen for the backyard. Yes we already have 2 kitchens, but it was only $5.99 and in a moment of semi-weakness I gave in. In reality we’ve been thinking about getting him one for the backyard for quite some time.
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with my finds. I know many of you have smaller thrift stores available. Even my store where we moved from was in smaller town always had a good rack of costumes out in October, so it’s worth a call or a stop in to see.
