Use Freezer Cooking to Avoid Fast Food During December

December is a busy month for everyone.  Last minute shopping and Christmas parties will often find you without dinner on the table or not wanting to cook for just the kids.  You don’t have to be tempted by fast food though. Take some time this week to double up on the meals you’re cooking so you’ll have them ready to pop in the oven at a moment’s notice.  You can also freeze your leftovers to serve to the kids on the nights that you’ll be out.  There are many ways to accomplish some simple freezer cooking without adding more stress to your busy month.

When you do need fast food, remember that you’re going for the fast and not the foodDon’t let those overpriced and oversized meals tempt you. Eat off the value menus, drink water (if it’s complimentary) and take bananas or apples with you instead of ordering fries for everyone. There is no reason why a family of 4 needs to spend $20 for a quick meal on the go when it can be done for under $8. You can always grab a snack to top off before bed time if necessary.

Consider the cost of a meal out vs. the time it would take to run home and scramble eggs and eat cereal for less than $3.  You may just find that you save more money next month than you had originally thought!
