Homemaking Plan Week 2 of 2012

Now that I’ve mastered menu planning, I’m moving on to being better organized with my homemaking skills (yes, I use the term homemaking very lightly!)  As I sit down to write the menu for the week, I’ll also think about the tasks to accomplish for this week.  I’ll make 3 lists:

  • 1 list of maintenance tasks that I will also post
  • 1 list of personal tasks such as bills to pay, people to call, and activities for the week
  • 1 list of cleaning items that I need to accomplish for the week.

I’ve tried homemaking plans before, but I quickly become overwhelmed
with the magnitude of chores to be completed each week
. I feel like I can never even accomplish the tasks for one day, much less an entire week. It’s obvious
that those ladies keep much more perfect homes than I do LOL. I’m hoping
that this list making and posting will help me stay on top of those
less common tasks and hopefully will encourage you to complete some less
common tasks each week without being overwhelmed.  Maybe after the kids
are all grown I’ll be able to master those other homemaking plans :-)

Last week I found myself frustrated that I wasn’t able to get more done on my list.  Frustration was the last thing I wanted to feel from my list making.  Due to several hiccups in my week I think that without the lists I would have accomplished precious little, so I’m glad I made them.  By Sunday I was feeling much better, having marked most of the items off my lists.  This week I’ve written out a little schedule to try for this week to help me even more.  I’ll let you know how it goes next Monday.

This week’s maintenance chores in addition to daily functioning cleaning chores:

  1. Wipe down kitchen cabinets
  2. Clean inside of stove
  3. Deep clean/mop floor- including beneath fridge and stove
  4. Vacuum out and wipe down inside of van
  5. Put 2 or 3 more items on Craigslist or Ebay to sell
  6. 15 minutes daily tidy after the kids go to bed

See?  Nothing too involved, just things that will help me stay on top of things at home instead of letting the week slip away from me because none of those things seem pressing to be done immediately.

What are your extra goals for this week?

  1. Just a thought – you might include a link to your post(s) or some info about your cleaning products (not just cleaning, but cleaning well & frugally, since you don’t use the commercial cleaners)
