Button Caterpillar – Preschool Busy Activity

I saw this idea first on The Activity Mom  but I liked the idea of round felt pieces to make a caterpillar instead of a snake.  I used 20 felt circles for our caterpillar. Little Turkey wanted to fill the entire ribbon up with circles instead of spreading them out, but once I convinced him to spread them out to create the caterpillar he was on board.  It took him about 10 minutes total.

To make it, I just cut the felt circles about the size of a half dollar.  I folded them each in half and snipped them for the button opening.  I cut the ribbon about 15 inches long. Then I sewed a starter circle to one end of the ribbon and sewed the button to the other end.  So simple!

To stretch this activity, next time I plan to have him put all the dark colors on first, then all the light colors.
