My Shopping Deals 4/16 & 4/19

Monday Little Turkey and I ventured out.  I had an 11:30 appt with the Dr. since my throat had felt like I’d been swallowing knives for 3 days.  I thought surely I had strep- but no.

While we were down on the south end of town we went to McDonald’s for a nice lunch.  30 mins, 2 McDoubles, a small fry, 2 waters, a shared fudge round, and a little playground time later we were ready for some shopping.

First stop: Target
Easter candy was at 50% off and other Easter items were all 90
% off.  My 2nd chocolate weakness (do you even have to guess what the
first is?) is the solid milk chocolate Cadbury eggs so I grabbed two. I
picked up several small items for next years Easter baskets at $.10
each, as well as 2 spring ceramic painting kids for $1 each.  They are
hard to find unbroken so I wanted to get them while they were
available.  We walked by most of the endcaps and found the Magic Jack
clearanced from $39.98 to $11.98.  I’ve been debating about one for a
while since we don’t currently have a home phone.  For $12 it’s worth
trying for a year.  I picked up a couple of grocery items and we headed
on our way.

Total before discounts and coupons: $72.34
Total spent was $23.32 including tax ($6.87 of that was the remainder of my Christmas gift card)

2nd stop: next door to Walmart
Usually I walk next door, but I’d forgotten and parked on the other side of Target :-(  Maybe next month when I make it down that way LOL (I avoid Walmart that much!)  Little One stepped on my glasses a few weeks ago so I needed to get them
fixed.  Thankfully there was no wait.  We picked up some items that we were out of or typically
don’t find routine sales to beat Walmart prices on. (So glad our house back in Arkansas has been rented again so I can start restocking my shelves!) I also needed to pick up some clear vinyl to recover some dining chairs with and haven’t been able to find it anywhere else in town except this particular Walmart.

Total spent was $23.49 including tax.

Last stop: CVS
The scanner was out of paper.  When I passed the asst. manager and let her know she rolled her eyes at me- seriously!  Never said a word, just walked right past me to the office.  I still prefer this location over others though, sadly.  I only got one Q once she replaced the paper roll.
It took me for.e.ver to find the NatuRelief.  I passed it at least 3 times LOL.  I had a $10 ECB to spend and my total for the NatureRelief and Colgate after my Qs was going to be $9.48 so I was trying to find something to spend $.52 on that was worthwhile.  I’m glad that I realized I hadn’t picked up milk earlier at Target so that was my $.52 :-)  I spent my other $.99 ECB and paid $2.18 OOP, receiving $10.49 in ECBs back.

Total before discounts, ECBs and coupons: $13.87   Total spent: $2.18.

Last stop: Dairy Queen.
Yes, I said “last stop” twice :-)  I hadn’t planned to get DQ, but I was really craving ice cream it by then it was 3:30!.   I happened to have 2 coupons from the kids meal bags in the van, so we pulled through the drive through and got dilly bars for free.  Little Turkey and I shared one for snack, and Little One and Daddy shared the other after dinner.

This morning I finally made it by Walgreens.

The total before discounts, RRs and coupons : $ 43.92 Total spent: $8.77 and I have a $3 RR left to spend.

I didn’t have the $5 Nasal Ease Q, but I did have one Similasan Q.  I used a raincheck for the floss, and got a raincheck for raisins and the aquafresh.

Transaction 1
Similasan @ 6
Pepsi Next @ .99
used $1.50/1 Similasan
Total OOP including tax was $5.57, got $6 RR and $.99 RR

Transaction 2
3 Pepsi Next 12 pks @ 8.97
Cadbury Eggs @ 1
2 Reach Floss @ 1.98 (raincheck)
2 Baby sock gift sets on clearance @ 2.98  (for the gift closet – aren’t they adorable?)
subtotal: $14.93
used IVC for Pepsi (took off $3)
used (2) $1/1 Reach floss (were reduced to $.99 each)
used $6 and $.99 RRs from T1
Total OOP including tax was $3.20, got $3 RR for Pepsi Next

For the week I’ve spent about $50.  I’ve made that in some craigslist sales, and hopefully will be able to keep our OOP within what I make on craigslist and garage sales in the next few weeks.

  1. Glad it wasn’t strep. I have had that pain from allergies lately. It is no fun. Nice trips! Thanks for linking up your CVS shopping trip at Simply CVS.
