Simple Homemaking Plan Week 16 of 2012

As I sit down to write the menu for the week, I’m writing out my 4 weekly “to do” lists (personal tasks, blogging tasks, cleaning chores, less common maintenance cleaning tasks). It’s helping me to accomplish things that easily get pushed aside otherwise, even if I don’t get them all checked off!

Last week I was not very motivated to finish painting the edges of the trim in the guest/kids’ bathroom. Instead I decided that I would organize our son’s closet (or storm area) to be sure we were ready for the massive storm system that was projected to move through our area on Sunday. (Our warnings were downgraded)  Since his closet got tackled, I figured I’d just do our daughter’s closet and the office closet at the same time and mark them all done :-)  While I didn’t exactly mark off my list for last week, I got a lot done and stayed on top of all the regular chores, so it was a successful homemaking week!

This week’s maintenance chores in addition to daily functioning cleaning chores:

  • Organize the kids’ closets (I’ll be finishing the painting this week instead)
  • Clean off the desk and organize office closet
  • Cook all the meals this week myself (except those coming from the freezer or take out)
  • 15 minutes daily tidy after the kids go to bed

If you missed it- here’s my update on organizing the items in my garage sale closet.

See?  Nothing too involved, just things that will help me stay on top of things at home instead of letting the week slip away from me because none of those things seem pressing to be done immediately.
