From Head to Toe Game – Eric Carle – Preschool Activity

This afternoon we played the game From Head to Toe that is based on the same book by Eric Carle.  I was watching a friend’s boys who are just a little bit younger than both of my kids.  It was a big hit with all the kids, even though the other boys were able to follow the directions better.  The younger kids were mostly just along for the ride :-)

Can you wiggle your hips?
Can you bend your neck?
Can you arch your back?
Can you wave your arms?
Now the little ones can wave their arms.
Can you stomp your feet?
Can you touch the floor?
All these actions prompted a little bit of gymnastics :-)

The premise of the game is for each child to draw a card with an action on it.  If he/she can do it they say “I can do it” and perform the action.  Then all the other kids do it.  The next child draws a card and must do both actions in order, saying “I can do it” each time.  The game continues until the kids can all do 10 cards in progression.  Because the little kids were playing with us, we all did the actions together as a group to keep them from losing interest while waiting on the older boys.

Thanks to my sweet hubby who took pictures for us and was thoughtful enough to not take any of my back side :-)
