to do list

As I sit down to write the menu for the week, I’m writing out my 4
weekly “to do” lists (personal tasks, blogging tasks, cleaning chores,
less common maintenance cleaning tasks).   It’s helping me to accomplish
things that easily get pushed aside otherwise, even if I don’t get
them all checked off!

I am happy to report that the new “to do” list app on my phone and I were a successful pair this week!
I made lists for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then on Thursday and Friday I went back to complete any unchecked items.  The house was in order by the time hubby came home from Shreveport on Friday, and I’m looking forward to hosting a small brunch on Tuesday!

This week’s maintenance chores in addition to daily functioning cleaning chores:

  • Organize the last closet – the office! (should take about an hour – make quick
decisions by having an undecided box) while the kids are at school or
    playing with their Daddy.
  • Organize my bathroom stockpile.  I’ve been guilty of just stuffing things in there lately and now I’m paying the price with stuff falling out on my toes!
  • Clean off the top of my fridge and find a home for everything (I actually got to this Friday night!)
  • 15 minutes daily tidy after the kids go to bed (I tend to do 30 mins one night and none the next, but it still works!)

Get ready – the next two weeks we’re tackling the kitchen to get ready for Thanksgiving company!
See? Nothing too involved, just tasks that will help me stay on top of things at home instead of letting the week slip away from me because none of those things ever seem pressing enough to be done immediately.

What extra things are you working on this week?
