A Song to Sing for a Christmas Solo

woman overwhelmed with life

Several years ago I was scheduled to sing a solo for church one Sunday morning in December.  About a week before I still hadn’t made a decision what to sing.  No Christmas song seemed right.  As I was passing over the track titles I saw it, and just had a peace that I was to sing this song.  More than any other solo I’d ever sung, people quietly told me how much it had blessed them.  How much of a blessing it was to me, to know that waiting on His peace to select a song allowed others to be blessed.   This week my Tip for Tuesday will focus on the season – or rather – to not focus on the
season!

Hebrews 12:1-3 says: “…let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.  For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning it’s shame, and set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so you will not grow weary and lose heart

Oh soul are you weary and troubled there’s so much to do and we think it’s got to be perfect
No light in the darkness you see it seems like there isn’t enough time to get it all done
There’s light for a look at the Savior there’s always time for Jesus
And life more abundant and free He can free us from our bondage of self-imposed requirements

Turn your eyes upon Jesus not on the Christmas wish lists
Look full in His wonderful face not at the TV or in the checkbook
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim the parties, perfect house and presents don’t really matter anymore do they?
In the light of His glory and grace we are truly blessed!
His word shall not fail you, He promised people will always let us down, but He will see us through
Believe Him and all will be well trust in what He says is important, and we’ll always have enough
Then go to a world that is dying don’t keep it to yourself, He didn’t
His perfect salvation to tell hare with the world what He has done and how blessed you are to receive his gift of eternal life!

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace

It’s not about us folks, and it was never intended to be.  What will you choose to focus on?

  1. Christmas seems to pull out the best posts from you Ms. Cricket. This has now replaced the reason for three gifts as my favorite of yours. Beautiful.
