Many of you have been asking when my next coupon class will be.  I don’t have another coupon class scheduled right now, but I am leading a 7 week women’s Bible study class on couponing/frugal living at Green Acres Baptist Church beginning Thursday, June 20th at 9:30 am. There is no cost to attend, and childcare is provided with reservations by Sunday, June 16th.  Links to register can be found below.

Would you like to give abundantly but feel you don’t have enough money, or want to stretch your hard earned dollars but don’t know where to start? If so, the Couponing for the Kingdom study is just for you! Through this class you’ll learn what God says about money and your role in your family’s finances, how to cut your grocery & household expenses in half, and be able to bless others from your new abundance!

We’ll cover:

  • what the Bible has to say about a woman’s role in the family’s finances
  • various aspects of couponing
  • how to get most of your personal care products for pennies on the dollar
  • budgeting
  • menu planning and freezer cooking
  • feed healthy meals to your family of 4 for an average of $5 a dinner?
  • how to make 150 oz of Tide for $1.20 in less than an hour, and other household products
  • tips for teaching your children to be good stewards with money
  • ways to help others financially without raising your income

This 7 week study will show how if we are intentional with our finances – whether large and small- they can be used to glorify God and His kingdom.

“She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When
it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are
clothed in scarlet….She watches over the affairs of her household and
does not eat the bread of idleness.” Excerpt from Proverbs 31

We meet from 9:30-11:30 on the 3rd floor of the Lighthouse building, with the childcare rooms (in the preschool building) opening at 9:15.  There is no required workbook or materials for the class.  There will be handouts provided each week, and if you’d like a book to follow along with you can purchase ‘Extreme Couponing: Learn How to Be a Savvy Shopper and Save Money… One Coupon At a Time’ by Joni Meyer-Crothers and Beth Adelman at the church bookstore. (again, not required, but you may find it helpful)  I’ll be using a mix of powerpoint presentations, discussion, videos and hands on stuff (i.e. actually making Tide!).

You can register for the Bible study class here. (if online registration for the study has closed, you can register in class on the 20th)
Childcare reservations can be placed here. (must be made by Sunday, June 16th)

If you’re interested in participating in a different Tuesday morning Bible study at GABC, you can register here.

I would like to know where you got your information on a woman’s role in family finances. I am having a Ladies Ministry meeting with 2 ladies coming to help our ladies learn to coupon. I am not having a whole lot of luck. Would you be willing to share some of your ideas? I would greatly appreciate it.

    • Hi Anita,
I developed my own curriculum from scripture. I’ve read quite a few books from Christian finance leaders that were mainly geared towards men so I wanted to create something for women. If you’re going to be leading a group of ladies you should use the scriptures that speak to you :-) Jesus spoke more about money than he did on heaven and hell combined, so I don’t think you’ll have any trouble finding passages that are applicable. As far as books I’d recommend – Joni Meyer-Crothers and Beth Adelman published “Extreme Couponing” this year that heavily emphasizes giving to others as well as honest couponing. Any book by Ellie Kay will have good information. Her books aren’t is not necessarily scripture based but I do believe she is a Christian woman. HTH
