There are numerous debates about whether or not the government should stop producing pennies. Some say they aren’t worth anything. Some say they aren’t worth what it costs to produce them (which is factual). Others say that retailers should just forgive balances that would require a penny of cash for payment. So my thoughts? That penny is worth something-it’s actually worth almost 2 pennies. I pick up all the change that I find on the ground because even though Mr. Drives a Jaguar and has a $500,000 house doesn’t want it, that penny will do quite a bit for my family. They all add up. It’s only natural that production of a small denomination will eventually be halted. The penny is just the current one on the chopping block.
