Since I can’t personally go shopping with everyone, the best way I know of to help people learn how to roll ECBs and RRs is to write scenarios based on the items they want to buy. If you want me to write you up a scenario for shopping at Walgreens or CVS this week you can comment or e-mail me the items you want, (must have a specific price in the ad) the Qs you have to use and the RRs or ECBs you are starting with. I’ll do my best to get one written up and sent back to you this evening.

My question is..When is the best time to shop for these deals and actually find the items in stock? I have gone on Sunday evening and all thru the week and every sale item is wiped out. My Walgreens doesnt like to give rainchecks and says they’re not allowed to give rainchecks on items that would be free after the RR. Is that true? All the senario’s seem great, IF I could actually find them in stock. Im new to all this and would love to get some deals too. Thanks

If there are items that you don’t want to miss, I recommend going before church on Sunday if you can manage it. If it is advertised as Free after RR in the ad it will go quickly. If it is a moneymaker advertised on the blogs it will likely go quickly. Most other things last for a few days.
Check with your store managers about when they get their trucks in each week. I try to go on the day that the truck comes too.
As far as rainchecks go, the RRs are a promotion from the manufacturer, so there isn’t anything they can do about it if they are out of stock. They can write a raincheck for the sale price, but it won’t reflect the RR after price. There is one store in Tyler that will write one for the “after RR price” if it’s not free. Not sure if that’s legit or not, but they’re doing it.
If you want several of an item you could try calling the week before and asking them to order it for you. This is a great plan because your order is in addition to their regular stock. I’d only recommend it if you are wanting more than a couple though, because you don’t want it to become a nuisance for them. We like managers to like us couponers
Since they are RR promotions and the store is reimbursed when you spend the RR, it’s a win-win for the store if you order it. HTH
