I usually don’t include makeup items in my Walgreens matchups, as I don’t really wear much makeup, and I find it to usually be overpriced at drugstores even with a sale. Many of you didn’t get the $2 Almay Q in your 3/6 inserts so I figured it wouldn’t be a good deal and didn’t post about the Almay deal.
Well I read yesterday on several blogs about the deal turning out to be a moneymaker and then a fabulous reader (thanks Danielle) also e-mailed me about it. Here’s the low down:
Buy 1 participating Almay product and get a $5 RR. They have several products that are on sale at $4.19 this week (I bought the 25 count makeup remover towelettes and 80 ct. eye makeup remover pads) so this is a .81 moneymaker excluding taxes.
But wait- In the Walgreens Spring Beauty book there is a $2 off Almay Cosmetics Q. It’s a Wags Q that is supposed to work like an IVC. Some of you were also lucky enough to get the $2 Q in the 3/6 SS or a $1 Q in the 2/13 SS. The potential is there for a $4.81 moneymaker.
Now a word of caution. I started my shopping last night at the Troup and Loop Wags. They didn’t have signs up, so I just bought the mascara that was pictured in the ad and on the Wags Q. (I haven’t worn mascara in at least 8 years but figured what the heck!) It was priced at 5.59 so after the $2 Q would be still be a small moneymaker. The Q came up as “coupon not found” so they had to push it through. The manager only pushed it through because I bought the item that was pictured.
Next I drove over to 5th and Broadway where I found the signage I was looking for and bought the eye remover pads. The coupon went through with no problems here.
This morning I went to Broadway and Rieck. Signage was up but the Q beeped and said “coupon not found” again. The cashier wouldn’t take it because she didn’t consider it to be Almay cosmetics. The manager agreed. I pointed out that the RR sign called it cosmetics. He said it was considered that for the RR deal, but not for the coupon. We went back and forth for a bit and then he told the cashier to just push it through. Well of course them my $2 RR beeped because she had pushed the other Q through as a Manu Q. Then we went back and forth about that being a Wags Q and not counting (she kept telling me I would need to buy something else). The manager set her straight and told her to price modify the item so I could use the RR. I don’t think he put the RR sign back up BTW.
So, in Tyler just stick with 5th and Broadway for the Almay deal folks. And if you are lucky enough to have the manu Qs then enjoy a huge moneymaking week by rolling between the [Almay, Always, Method, Plackers and fillers of choice] and the [Tena and fillers of choice] (which BTW is reported as being on clearance at some stores and still producing the $10 RR) I wonder if we’ll see any more Reach to add to the great week?…..
And yes, maybe one of these days I will learn to make my posts short and sweet. Until then, thanks for reading them anyway

In case you want a scenario for rolling:
Trans 1
Almay after Wags Q @ 2.19
Always after $1 manu Q @ 1.99
Method @ 2.99
Plackers @ 2
at least $1.83 in fillers
Use $10 RR from Tena to pay, get $5, $2, $2, $2 in RRs
Trans 2
Tena after $2.50 Q @ 7.50
at least 3 fillers worth $1.50
pay with $5, $2, $2 RRs
get back $10 RR and still have an extra $2, plus over $3 extra you added in for fillers.
Oh the possibilities…..
I had the same problem. I bought 2 Almay at 5th and had no beeps with the wags q. I went to Troup and had beeps. The cashier pushed it trough and didn’t say anything. I wasn’t using any RR. I bought that and the plackers. I’m trying to keep as many RR as I can this week and can do well on the Almay. I had planned on hitting the Reick store this afternoon. I may just go back to 5th after school today. Thanks for the warning!
Don’t learn to make your posts short and sweet. I am learning a lot from the explanations!
@ Anon – Thanks for giving me something to smile about at the end of an emotional day!
