As I sit down to write the menu for the week, I’m writing out my 4
weekly “to do” lists (personal tasks, blogging tasks, cleaning chores,
less common maintenance cleaning tasks). It’s helping me to accomplish
things that easily get pushed aside otherwise, even if I don’t get
them all checked off!
What can I say? You’d be correct to say this is the exact same list I published last week. You’d also be correct to assume that I accomplished nothing on said list. However, I did accomplish many tasks and my house is otherwise in order, in spite of an impromptu trip to Shreveport this weekend to see hubby. I will once again endevour to get to some extras around here!
Last week (10/15-10/22) ended up being super busy. It was good to keep the kids active while hubby was out of town, but I didn’t get as much done around the house as I’d hoped. I only managed to tackle Little One’s closet and keep the house mostly tidy, although I did reorganize a couple of cabinets that weren’t on the list. I’m starting this week with high hopes and a new “to do list” app on my phone to help me keep at it.
This week’s maintenance chores in addition to daily functioning cleaning chores:
- Organize 2 closets (should take about an hour each – make quick
decisions by having an undecided box) while the kids are at school or
playing with their Daddy.I’ve got 3 closets left to go! - Pull everything out onto the bed or floor of that room.
- Throw trash/junk away.
- Box up items for garage sale that haven’t been used and I can’t see being used in the next year.
- Make use of tubs/crates turned on their sides for extra shelving and separators.
- Group like items to put back in the closet, keeping in mind Martha’s tips for item placement.
- 30 minutes working on my office at hubby’s request (i.e. catch all room)
- 15 minutes daily tidy after the kids go to bed (I tend to do 30 mins one night and none the next, but it still works!)
See? Nothing too involved, just tasks that will help me stay on top of things at home instead of letting the week slip away from me because none of those things ever seem pressing enough to be done immediately.
What extra things are you working on this week?
