Update on Step 4 of Becoming Debt Free

I had planned to have step 4 completed by this week, but I’ve barely begun.  With our trip, move to toddler bed, water leak and broken nose working on our finances just hasn’t been a priority.  I tried a few times to work on it, but I didn’t get very far before being interrupted :-) I’m hoping to set aside 2 or 3 hours this weekend to tally our expenses from the past year so we can move on to the next step.

I did begin reading a book that has been really inspiring.  It’s called Your Money Counts: The Biblical Guide to Earning, Spending, Saving, Investing, Giving, and Getting Out of DebtThe author, Howard Dayton, makes several points that have encouraged me this week.  He talks about contentment with what we have because God has provided all that we truly need.  He also talks about being good stewards- whether with our own possessions and money or someone elses.  It’s an easy read that packs a punch!

This afternoon I’ll have another guest post story for you about getting out of debt.  And hopefully next week we’ll be able to move on to the next step in getting out of debt. If you’ve missed any, you can catch up on reading my series on getting out of debt here.
