Frugal $5 Menu Plan May 2013

My goal is to provide dinner for my family for an average of $5 except on special occasions. We don’t have to eat beans and rice to accomplish this goal!  I shop the grocery sales each week.  Then I plan my menu based on the foods I have already at home (at a great price). I balance more expensive meals with less expensive ones. Because we cook multiples of each dish, we spend less time cleaning, cooking, and meal planning!

Did you see my menu plan in April?  No?  Ok, that was a joke because I didn’t post one!  I had strayed from the menu so much as I struggled to make it through March that we really just finished the March menu!  This month we have a lot of chicken and beef to use up. I’m only including the sides that I have planned since we eat a lot of fresh fruit and won’t know what fruits will be on sale each week.

Dishes We’re Cooking
2x Chargrilled Chicken Salad, carrot sticks and grapes
2x Grilled Pork Chops and corn on the cob
2x Lemon Garlic Pork Tenderloin
Hamburgers
Blueberry Pancakes, Eggs, Sausage and fresh fruit
Corn Dogs, carrot sticks and apple slices
Spaghetti with Texas Cheese Toast
2x Taco Salads
Planned Fast Food

Chick-fil-A on kids night
Dairy Queen
Taco Bell

I’d like to work in a few new recipes this year.  I’d love to hear your suggestions of things you haven’t seen on my menus before!

When is it Chickfila kids night? Do they eat free? And is it at all locations or just the one on S. Broadway?

Sorry I missed this yesterday. It is on Tuesday nights. We’ve eaten on S. Broadway and on Troup on Tuesday’s – not sure about the mall. It’s a free 4 pc kids meal with the purchase of any adult meal. You can order the 4 pc and pay about $.75 for 2 extra nuggets if you need them though. :-)
