How to Get Blood Out of Clothing- Turkey’s Nighttime Nosebleed

This post may contain affiliate links.

I learned a great trick for getting blood out of clothing several years ago when hubby had to undergo 3 rounds of chemotheraphy and had some gushers as they tried to find new veins.  It sure came in handy this week. Monday night I find Turkey sitting up in his bed crying.  This isn’t like him.  “What’s wrong, little bud”  “I messed my bed up”  I think he’s thrown up, but when I get down on his level to tell {Read More}

What We’re Getting the Kids for Christmas

This post may contain affiliate links.

We’ve all been anticipating it for weeks now, and we’re down to the last 2 weeks before Christmas.  Last week I added a new poll to the sidebar asking how much you were planning to spend for your kids this year.  Considering that most people reading this blog are frugal spenders I’m surprised to see that currently 36% of the voters say they’ll spend upwards of $250 on each child for Christmas!  Considering our ability to bargain shop, that means {Read More}

From the Mouths of Babes pt. 2

I washed and laid Little One’s plastic bibs out to dry yesterday. While I was feeding her lunch I look over to see Turkey in the process of doing this: There are a total of 7 bibs there BTW.  I guess he was feeling left out. Other funny moments from lately: When Little One spit up: “Ohhhh sweetheart, you spit your milk up” followed by “Eww, don’t eat that, it’s gross!” (of course coming from a kid who eats his {Read More}

Why I Haven’t Posted This Past Week

It’s been a busy one for sure.  I hope everyone has been able to score some great deals during my absence at A Thrifty Penny.  Here’s a peek into our lives recently: Hosted our parents at our apartment for a week–  It’s great to have them, but after a week it’s good to be back to just us 4 again for a while.  Little One was dedicated at church–  8th months old already and she’s such a sweetheart!  Had Turkey’s {Read More}

Eye Surgery for Baby

I took Little One back to the eye doctor this morning.  Her pressures are still perfectly normal and she continues to show no other signs of glaucoma except for her excessive tearing.  The tearing is from two unrelated causes.   She has double blocked tear ducts as well as something called entropion.  Entropion is where her eyelids flip inward.  Basically her bottom eyelashes rest on her eyes so they aren’t protecting her eyes from all the floating particles in the {Read More}

How I Know My Three Yr. Old Is Really Listening

We have a rule in our van that if Turkey gets to listen to “his kids” then he doesn’t get any toys.  This way if he wants to play with a toy then I can get some “me music” and when he listens to his music I know he’s actually paying attention.  One time he actually got in the van and said “I need a toy momma, so you can listen to your music”   It’s a compromise that works great, {Read More}

Feeding the Baby

Little One is a much healthier eater than her big brother. Actually she’s just plain healthier than Turkey. At 16 pounds, she’s 2 pounds heavier than he was at this point. Doesn’t sound too bad, but considering that he didn’t hit 16 pounds until he was 1 yr old, well, it’s safe to say that she’s much healthier than him. Here she was eating dinner last night. I couldn’t feed her quick enough, so she decided to take things into {Read More}

Help Me Choose a Halloween Costume

I have two great choices for a Halloween costume for Little One.  They are both so cute I can’t decide which one.  Everyone knows I’m not a very decisive person so I’d love your input on which one you think looks cuter. I’ve put a poll in my sidebar so please give me your input.  I’d love to read comments too! Of course Turkey couldn’t stand all the dressing up so he decided to squeeze into the costume that he {Read More}

Anniversary Dinner Results

Remember last week in my $5 dinner post how I said my goal for our anniversary dinner out was $12.33?  We finally got around to going out on Sunday night. T.G.I. Friday’s was the location since I had found a $5 off Q last Tuesday.  I knew we would still blow the budget, but it wouldn’t be too bad.  We took both kids with us, since we have yet to find a sitter that can take care of the baby.  {Read More}
